Shahira Amin is an independent award- winning journalist based in Cairo. A former contributor to CNN's Inside Africa, Amin also worked at Egyptian state- run Nile TV as one of its lead anchors and reporters. She quit her job at the height of the Egyptian Revolution in 2011 to protest cendorship of her work and has since been writing for various news sites including Index on Censorship and Al Monitor. She has also worked asa filmmaker producing several documentaries for UN agencies.
Amin is currently a Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council. She also works as a Communication Consultant on a water project supported by the European Union.
